THE NETHERLAND CLUB OF NEW YORK
The Netherland Club of New York (TNC), founded in 1903, offers a wide range of events that leverage Dutch art, culture and ideas, to further the unity of those interested in the Dutch culture and community, and to stimulate a cross-cultural dialogue and to strengthen the longstanding relationship between The Netherlands and New York. The open club, with 600+ members and a growing number of visitors (last year 5000+), is a lively meeting point for many people. We welcome not only Dutch people living in and around New York, but everyone interested in The Netherlands, its heritage, art, culture, ideas, and cosines.

TNC is located in the beautiful The Warwick Hotel, at 6th Avenue, with which we have a partnership since 2018. We’ve access to their event spaces of varying sizes, the restaurants with a full bar as well as catering facilities, a business center and 400 hotels rooms. The club is operated by a general manager under the supervision of a Board of Directors. Our current General Manager is expected to leave New York in the summer of 2019.

JOB DESCIPTION
We are looking for an independent self-starter with excellent interpersonal skill, hands-on approach, a welcoming host(ess), responsible for the day-to-day management of The Netherland Club. Applicant will be responsible for generating new activities and running all events on the calendars, average one event per week. You will use your excellent social skills to host the visitors and to recruit new members, while at the same time using your administrative skills for the club’s financial and logistical management and membership administration. You are responsible for all communications via outgoing mailings and the club’s website and social media.

This position is an excellent opportunity for candidates with close ties and attachments to The Netherlands and its culture, and having the drive to create exciting and compelling events.  Event organizing skills and a can-do-attitude able to thrive in a self-starting setting is a top priority. You will report to the President of the Board of Directors in New York.

We are looking for someone who is available from March for a training and takeover period during the following months. The current GM is leaving this summer, but will be available to consult with.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Bilingual Dutch and English.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, both internal and external. Must keep an open dialogue with the members, visitors and media.
  • Close cooperation with the Management and staff of The Warwick Hotel NY.
  • Entrepreneurial, self- starter, with a “can do” attitude and team player.
  • High-level of motivation and the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • General Management skills, including basic bookkeeping, with the ability to prioritize, complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines and deliverables.
  • Basics knowledge of Quickbooks, WordPress and Photoshop is a plus.
  • Recruitment of new members and sponsors.
  • Based in NYC with the ability to work remotely.
  • Legal status allowing employment in the US.
