On Monday, December 17th, 2018, just before the holidays start, we would like to end this successful TNC year with a Winter Wonder Night edition of TNCJAZZ by Dutch jazz musicians Philippe Lemm and Jorn Swart and a storytelling (in Dutch) by award-winning Dutch writer Merijn de Boer.
A WINTER WONDER JAZZ CLUB
Both Philippe Lemm and Jorn Swart are known to TNC’s regular visitors. Both performed already once in the TNCJAZZ series, although, because of their full concert agenda, they both couldn’t perform yet at TNC this year. And both young Dutch jazz talents from New York rarely perform together. That makes this special edition of TNCJAZZ extra special. Inspired by famous holiday songs and music, they will use their trust and understanding of one another’s musical tendencies, to create their own winter wonder soundscapes in our bar.
The music will be alternated by a seasonal storytelling (in Dutch) by the award-winning Dutch writer Merijn de Boer. This year his collection of stories was published, named De Geur van Miljoenen (The Scent of Millions). This was already the fifth book by this young Dutch writer, who’s currently living in New York. Merijn de Boer was also responsible for this year’s text of TNC’s Groot Dictee der Nederlandse Taal (spelling bee), last October.
Unfortunately, Merijn will leave New York by the end of December because he moves to Jerusalem. We asked him to do his final last NY performance, a mid-winter storytelling, at TNC’s last event of 2018. A story to inspire and to give us some thoughts for the upcoming holidays.
During and after this event the bar will be open. In short, this night will be a great opportunity to see each other, to enjoy the music and words and to toast together on a very successful 2018 for The Netherland Club of NY and to wonderful holidays. The drinks are complimentary, but a donation is ‘required’. Please bring cash money.
