NIEMAND IN DE STAD
Niemand in de Stad is a coming-of-age story about friendship, desires, and of growing up. The no-mans-land between youth and adulthood offers a chance to invent yourself. But the abundance of possible identities makes it difficult to find who you really are and want to be.
As three young friends stumble towards maturity during their student days in Amsterdam, the sudden death of one of them serves to concentrate their minds. In the course of this turbulent period, they try to break free from their parents and their backgrounds, experience the meaning of friendship and find out who they really are.
In this film the ideas about friendship and love are sharpened: does true friendship offer the space to have secrets? And love, is it the tranquillity and self-evidence of each other’s attention and company, or should it crackle with intense passion?
Philip Huff (1984) is a Dutch writer. He writes novels, stories, essays, poems, lyrics and film scripts. Huff studied history and philosophy (both cum laude) at the University of Amsterdam and is currently living and working in New York.
